24th September 2017 – Fifteenth Sunday after Trinity
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
StAPH becomes St Andy’s Church
After 10 years as StAPH, the PCC has agreed to rename our church plant as St Andy’s Church. This decision was driven by the need to ensure that outsiders understood that it was a church, and has the advantage of making the connection with St Andrew’s transparent, while pointing up the informality which is one of the hallmarks of the plant. The new St Andy’s faces an additional challenge following the immediate closure of the sixth form centre at Woodlands, where it has worshipped for the last 3 years because it failed its dilapidation survey. Please do pray.
Please note that Fran and Greg will be on holiday from 2nd-8th October inclusive (not again!)
My thanks to all who helped out at the Auturmn Fayre. It got off to a hectic start when we couldn’t get into the hall, but everyone pulled together and worked hard to get the stalls ready. We made a grand total of £ 770 for church funds, so well done and thanks also to all those who came along and supported us. Jackie Lynch.
As of September 1st Emma Wildman took up her role as our new children’s worker. She can be contacted on 07969 066979 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Open the Book
The Open the Book team who perform bible stories in St Andrew’s School for their assemblies are looking for practical support from a costume maker and/or props maker. Anyone interested should speak to Greg or Kate Howarth.
Allesley Green Prayer Group
We will be praying for Allesley Green this Tuesday 26th September at 7.30pm at 14 New Ash Drive. All welcome.
Lunch n Chat
Lunch n Chat has just celebrated its 11th anniversary of helping those who have been bereaved. Providing lunch and a listening ear to those who have lost loved ones for more than a decade in the church room. Thank you so much to all our wonderful volunteers who make the group possible. If you know anyone who might benefit from this group, please speak to Rita on 024 7646 0744.
To Mike Lynch who has done a wonderful job of levelling the church path.
Congratulations to Sue Masters
Sue was relicensed as a Reader last week at Coventry Cathedral to continue to minister at St Andrew’s. We are so grateful to God for her.
Dementia Support Group
The PCC have agreed to set up a Dementia Support group for sufferers and their carers. Further volunteers are welcome. No experience necessary, just an ability to listen and care for those in need. Please speak to Greg or Rita.
This year’s Harvest appeal is in support of Water Aid, which provides clean water to the developing world. Gifts should be in clearly marked envelopes. Non-perishable goods may be given to the Foodbank in the box at the back of church. Fresh produce gratefully received for our harvest display.
Cathedral Liaison Officer
Norah Hall, after years of loyal service, has stepped down as our Cathedral Liaison Officer. We are therefore looking for someone to take on this role, which is primarily about disseminating messages from the cathedral to the wider congregation on an occasional basis. Anyone interested in the role should speak to Greg.
Diocesan Vocations Evening
Where do I fit in God’s Story? Are you or someone you know interested in exploring God’s calling? On Wednesday 4th October we are running another Vocations Evening. These sessions aim to enable participants to consider God’s calling within a wider understanding of vocation as well as discovering more of their own calling in mission and ministry. All are welcome to these sessions which are held at 7.30-9.30pm (including refreshments) at All Saints Church, Emscote (Warwick CV34 5NL). To find out more see the link below or to book your place please contact Sarah Palmer on email@example.com or 02476 521316. Website: http://www.dioceseofcoventry.org/vocations/vocationsevenings
