15th October 2017 – Eighteenth Sunday after Trinity
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
StAPH becomes St Andy’s Church
After 10 years as StAPH, the PCC has agreed to rename our church plant as St Andy’s Church. This decision was driven by the need to ensure that outsiders understood that it was a church, and has the advantage of making the connection with St Andrew’s transparent, while pointing up the informality which is one of the hallmarks of the plant. The new St Andy’s is currently meeting in members’ homes following the closure of the 6th form block at Woodlands. There will be a service for the whole St Andy’s congregation at St Andrew’s on Sunday 29th October at 4pm, a good opportunity for St Andrew’s people who have always wondered what happens at StAPH to come along.
Children’s Church at St Andrew’s
As half term begins next week, Children’s Church will not be meeting in the school hall. A craft box will be available in the side room for children to use during the service. Children’s Church will be open as normal on Sunday, 29th October.
Do you enjoy a nice cuppa after the service? If so, it’s thanks to a great team of faithful volunteers offering an extra hour or so after service every Sunday. We are now looking to put together a rota to ensure we have sufficient people to serve coffee and tea. If you currently volunteer, please could you let Rosemarie know your availability. If you do not currently volunteer but would like to, we’re looking for new people to join and would really appreciate your help! Please see or telephone Rosemarie Over on 07778 397284. And remember – if we don’t have volunteers, there won’t be any coffee/tea!!
Parish Safeguarding Course 0 (the basic module)
Everyone who has a volunteer role at St Andrew’s Church should now have received a letter from Greg regarding the completion of Parish Safeguarding Course 0. If you have not received this then please contact Julie on 07756 918847 or email@example.com. The Course can be completed online by visiting http://www.dioceseofcoventry.org/Safeguarding/SafeguardingTraining and clicking on “online basic safeguarding awareness training”. This should take approximately an hour to complete, at the end of which you will be invited to download a certificate. When you have done this, please email a copy of the certificate to Julie who will forward this to Linda Chylinski (our Safeguarding Officer). Please do this by 11th November. Alternatively, you may attend one of three two-hour sessions that Linda has kindly agreed to provide for us at St Andrew’s. We are very blessed to have Linda who has been authorised by the Diocese to provide this training and issue you with a certificate at the end. The sessions are: Monday 16th October at 7pm, Wednesday 18th October at 7pm and Saturday 11th November at 10am. Please let Julie know which course you would like to attend. Thank you.
