Pews News – 24th & 31st December 2017

24th & 31st December 2017 – 4th Sunday of Advent and 1st Sunday of Christmas

Welcome
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.

Children’s Church
Children’s Church will not be meeting in the school hall during the Christmas holiday. We are opening for the Spring Term on 14th January, when we will be looking at stories Jesus told with more games, crafts and fun activities. We have room for more children, so if your little one would like to join us, please contact Hilary on 07980596646 for more information. All of us at Children’s Church wish you a ‘Happy Christmas.’

Christmas Toy Appeal
Many thanks to all those who have contributed so generously to our Christmas toy appeal.  The toys have been given to the Family Hub in Tile Hill and will ensure many children have a wonderful Christmas that might otherwise have been without.

Flower Rota 2018
The 2018 flower rota is now at the back of church. If you would like to put your name down for a week, please do.

Safeguarding
Those people who attended C0 training will be aware there is now a pro forma for recording concerns or allegations of abuse within a church. This form is now pinned onto the noticeboard at the back of church should it be required. Thank you, Linda Chylinski.

Growing Leaders Course 2018
We have successfully run this course over recent years at St Andrew’s and we are starting a new Growing Leaders Course in January 2018. This is a course designed for anyone currently in leadership in the church or at work; or for anyone who is considering that they might be at some point in the future, whether that is working with a small group of children or adults, or taking on a specific responsibility in the church, at work or the community. The course publicity says: ‘It’s our hope that Growing Leaders will help equip leaders at every level of church life to be led more by Jesus, to lead more like Jesus and to lead more to Jesus.’  Interested? If you would like to know more please speak with Greg or with Sue Masters (07958322026).

Link Deliverers
The Link is ready for collection in the side room, if you deliver or are able to take to someone who does near to you, we would be grateful if you could take the bundle for delivery … many thanks. Barbara Warner.

Link Deliverer Needed
Volunteer to take over a round in Sutton Avenue. 153-203 and 162-204 (52 copies). Perhaps someone who lives there or close to would consider this delivery round. Please see or contact Barbara Warner 02476 403458/07846 288036. Many thanks in anticipation.

Bible Page Numbers
We have asked readers to announce page numbers when introducing bible readings. For those of you who don’t like to be rushed in finding the right page, please note the page numbers are recorded in pews news each week. Having bought 20 new bibles, it would be great if lots more people were following the readings.

Please Pray
For the family of Brandon Gurney, a six-year old boy from St Andrew’s School, who died very suddenly last weekend. Please visit our Facebook page if you wish to make a donation in his memory.
