25th February 2018 – The Second Sunday of Lent
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
On February 12th, St Andrew’s PCC took the difficult decision to ask our wonderful choir to retire at Easter. While this decision was almost unanimous, it was not taken without recognizing that it would be painful for some members of the choir and congregation. The decision was taken after a period of consultation with the choir and much prayer. We were mindful that choir numbers have reduced in recent years, with the loss of two younger members in the past months; and with ill health an increasing factor affecting attendance. Our intention is that Dawn Easthope should remain as Director of Music and to recruit a Festival Choir from among the existing choir and wider congregation to sing on special occasions e.g. Easter/Christmas/Harvest. We would especially like to host a Songs of Praise service in the summer. There is no plan to change our style of worship, nor any other hidden agenda. Our hope is that we can take the opportunity at Easter to properly thank the choir for their years of loyal service and celebrate their ministry. Greg is willing to visit anyone from the choir or congregation to talk further one to one and pray. Please let him know if you would like to take advantage of this.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
On the 25th May 2018, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will replace the Data Protection Act of 1998. The good news is that the GDPR main concepts and principles are very similar to those contained in the current act. As a church we take the responsibility of your personal data very seriously, with the new rules coming into effect, we must contain consent to hold your personal information. At any point you can ask for all data being held on you, and for all information to be removed. The information will only be shared by the leadership team for activities within the church or pastoral needs. Consent forms are being distributed over the next couple of weeks, please ensure these are returned to Becky Crowe or Linda Chylinski.
The Link is ready for collection in the side room, if you deliver or are able to take to someone who does near to you, we would be grateful if you could take the bundle for delivery. If anyone should have incorrect numbers or their bundle is missing please contact Barbara Warner. Thank you.
As we look forward to our Palm Sunday re-enactment of the passion story, we are looking for volunteer performers, seamstresses and prop makers. Anyone who would like to help in any way should speak to Greg or Kate Howarth. Actors should be 8+.

For further information, please see the Leaflet “A Coventry Retreat in Daily Life” or have a word with Lesley Lee.
Favourite Bible Quotes
Most of us have favourite verses from the Bible that are inspirational in some way and help us in our day to day life. St Andrew’s would like to put up a wall display of such quotations within our church. Please see the leaflet entitled Favourite Bible Quotes being handed out today or speak to/contact Lesley Lee.
We have been able to donate a further £45 to the Society for which they are extremely grateful and would like to thank all those who have filled the tubes (mites) with their spare change. It is amazing how it mounts up, and appreciate your continued support. A receipt for this amount is on the noticeboard at the back of the church. Many thanks, Barbara Warner.
Good Neighbours Recruiting
HOPE Coventry’s Good Neighbours project is currently recruiting paid local coordinators (15 hours/week, days to be agreed) to serve older people and their communities, including churches. Anyone in the congregation who is interested in the job, please apply via hopecoventry.org.uk/latest/
We are looking for volunteers to join the Sunday Service Rota, particularly for dressing the Altar before the 10am Sunday Service. This would require those who feel they would be able to help arriving at church in good time to have the Altar prepared before the majority of worshipers arrive. This is not an arduous or complicated task and full instruction will be given. The frequency of duty would be every three or four weeks, depending on the number of volunteers coming forward. Those interested please contact Greg or Steve Wankling. Thank you.
Mother’s Day Posies
Volunteers needed on Saturday 10th March at 9.15am to make up posies for Mother’s Day. Thank you. Ann Dove.
If you would like to make a donation towards the cost of the Easter flowers please see Ann Dove.
To raise funds for the church we intend to hold an Easter raffle and would be grateful for donations of prizes. If you are able to donate please pass you item(s) to Charley Watts or Linda Chylinski. Thank you.

The new group will meet on a fortnightly basis from 7.30pm-9pm and will be a time of fellowship, Bible study and discussion. We would love you to join us so please think about if you would like to be part of this new group. If you would like to know more or interested in joining please speak with Becky or Rita or contact Sue Masters (07958 322026).
Bible Video Project
St Andrew’s will be making a short video in the coming weeks, interviewing people about what they get out of reading the bible. We are looking for volunteers to speak to camera for about 40 seconds. We are looking for people who don’t mind talking about the difficulties as well as the joys of bible reading. If you might be interested, please speak to Sue Masters.
Anyone who is able to help out at Kidz Klub on Tues 27th March from 5-6.15pm to help with refreshments etc. should contact Sarah Adamson at email@example.com. Kidz Klub is based at Limbrick Wood Baptist Church and is supported by St Andrew’s in prayer and with occasional financial support because of their commitment to sharing God’s love with the children of Tile Hill. You can also support them at this time by buying a Real Easter Egg or donating £4 so that each child receives an Easter Egg. Please give eggs or money to Greg (He promises not to eat the eggs!).
Our next ever popular Pram Service takes place this Tuesday at 9.15am (doors open from 8.45am). The service is aimed at pre-school children and their carers with craft, song and stories. This week’s theme: Leaving God’s Garden.
