27th May 2018 – Trinity Sunday
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
We are pleased to report that Lynnette had a successful operation to remove her gall bladder and is slowly on the mend. She will be back amongst us in due course, but is for now grateful to receive visitors. Please call first.
Our regular first Sunday pattern will be observed next week, with a communion service at 8am; Worship 4 All at 10am and a beautiful service of meditation at 6.30pm.
Alpha Caterers Needed
We are still looking for volunteers cater for some sessions of the Alpha Course. If you would be willing to cater for one evening (or more) please contact the Parish Administrator on 07756 918847 or email@example.com
Rod Stewart Tribute Evening
23rd June at 7.30pm til late at the Albany Club, Earlsdon. Tickets cost £12, contact 07778 397284. Raising funds for Coventry Myton Hospice and St Andrew’s Forget me Not (Dementia Support Group).
Children’s Holiday Club
We would like to hold a holiday club for primary aged children on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th July, but to do this we need lots of volunteers – male and female! We will plan activities as a team and training and support will be given as necessary. We need people to help with games, craft activities, serve drinks and snacks and give general support. A holiday club would be a great way to further our children’s ministry within the parish, but we can only go ahead if we have adequate child:adult ratios. If you are interested in helping (even if it is only for a few hours) and would like more information, please speak to Hilary or phone 07980 596646. A firm commitment is needed by the end of May to give us time to plan activities and advertise the event. Many thanks, Hilary.
The Link is ready for collection in the side room, if you deliver or are able to take to someone who does near to you, we would be grateful if you could take the bundle for delivery.
The Diocese has produced a 2 minute video celebrating 100 years and signalling its vision for the future. Please watch at https://vimeo.com/270059416
After many, many years Diane Wilson has decided to hang up her mop. She has epitomised loyalty and professionalism in this role. In replacing her, we want to investigate whether it might be possible to recruit a band of volunteers to clean for an hour once a week. We probably need 5 people altogether to allow volunteers to take a week off when necessary. If you are interested in helping, please speak to Greg, Diane or Jackie Lynch.
Allesley Green Residents Association
For all residents of Allesley Green, the AGM of the Residents Association takes place on Tues 5th June at 7pm at Park Hill School.
We are looking to set up a small working group to develop policy around the church’s use of social media. Anyone willing to get involved with this should speak to Greg or Paul Crowe.
Our quarterly budget report was published last week. We are extremely grateful to those donors who have funded our roof repairs, which we have been able to undertake without any drain on church funds. However, despite being within budget on all expenditure lines, on current levels of giving a shortfall for the year is still projected because given is not yet in line with what we have hoped and prayed for. Please continue to pray about this.
Party in the Park
God blessed us with amazing sunshine (too hot for some!) for Party in the Park, which was the most successful ever, with approximately 2,000 attending and £750 raised towards church funds. We are grateful to Allesley Green Residents Association for working in partnership with us again. Special thanks go to Richard Marr, Julia McNaney and Julie Crow for their hard work on the organising committee and most of all to our loyal volunteers, who staffed stalls, baked cakes, arrived early or stayed late.
We would like to supplement our small team of altar servers, who set up the altar for communion on an occasional basis. If you are able to help, please speak to Greg, Steve Wankling or Rita.
We are looking to recruit an additional audio-visual operator to join our select team of Steve and Paul. This would only require a once in a while commitment on a Sunday morning to cover holidays. Full training provided. Concentration is the most important gift needed!
All Star Theatre Company (run by Emma, Greg and Selina at St Oswald’s Church) starts a new programme on Thurs 7th June from 6-7pm. This increasingly popular club for 8-12 year olds offers games, improvisation and performance opportunities in local schools. Please speak to one of the leaders for further information.
