17th November 2019 – The Second Sunday before Advent
St Andrew’s Church welcomes allcomers, whether this is your first time or thousandth time in church. You are welcome whatever your age, gender, marital status, disability, race or sexuality. You are welcome whether you have a deep and mature faith in Christ; are uncertain and still seeking; or have no faith. If you are new to church, please do take a welcome leaflet to be found in the pews; and do not hesitate to ask one of the welcomers if you have any queries.
This Sunday, we continue a series on generous giving
|Nov 17th||God’s generosity to us||Lesley Lee|
|Nov 24th||Giving our money||Greg Smith|
Our Nation is in crisis and our world is troubled. “PRAYING TOGETHER” – an opportunity to hold our community, our troubled nation and specific areas of the world in prayer will be held tonight at 6.30pm. All are welcome to join us. See members of the Prayer Ministry Team for further details.
Please note that there is always someone willing to pray with you after the service about any need or concern you have. Please feel free to approach one of the prayer team direct or ask one of the clergy.
It is with great pleasure that I am able to confirm that the final amount collected in memory of Eddie and forwarded to Parkinson’s UK was £764. I would like to express my grateful thanks to all those who helped to raise this fantastic amount. Sara.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to you all for your cards, phone calls and messages of sympathy following the loss of our wonderful Mum. Thanks to everyone who was able to join us for Mum’s beautiful funeral service and for donations received for the Palliative Care Team’s charity. Thank you too for all your prayers for Mum throughout her illness; they really did bring her comfort. A special thank-you to Greg, Lesley, Kath and Joan for your ongoing visits and support to Mum over the past two and a half years; it meant so much to her and to us all. Love Liz, Deb and families xxxx
Thanks to those who attended City Praise last Sunday, representing St Andrew’s. Over 700 people were present, worshiping and praying together. More than £2,000 was raised for charity by the congregation.
Safeguarding in Coventry Diocese
Over the next few months, the Diocese will be conducting a Past Cases Review. An independent reviewer will be looking at safeguarding files relating to church officers, to ensure all safeguarding matters have been reported and appropriate action taken. All parish records are being checked for either past or present concerns. Any instances of abuse will be examined and bought to light. For further information on this, please see leaflet on the noticeboard at the back of church.
Church Cleaning Opportunity
We have a very willing band of people who clean the church each week, but we are in need of more help please to share the burden. They clean the church on a Friday. The more volunteers we have the easier and quicker it is to clean. It would also mean we can set up two teams, so people aren’t required every week. The cleaning takes a couple of hours and is an important form of ministry. Many of our visitors comment on how lovely and clean the church looks when they visit and this doesn’t happen by chance, but by the efforts of those who clean. If you can help please speak to Jackie Lynch or one of the Churchwardens.
Thanks to Julia McNaney, who has kindly agreed to take on the role of Shawl Ministry coordinator from Jackie Page. All our thanks to Jackie who has been doing this role for many years.
We are looking for an additional volunteer who would be willing on an occasional basis to operate the PowerPoint for the screens on Sunday morning. The volunteer would be expected to help once every couple of months or so.
Anyone is welcome to attend Deanery Synod, which takes place at St Mary Magdalen, Chapelfields on Thursday evening at 7.30pm. Revd Kate Pearson, chaplain at the University of Warwick will be speaking on student ministry.
Would all users of the side room ensure that tables and chairs are only moved by lifting them from the floor. Dragging them is causing the new floor to be scratched.

Request for Christmas hampers to bless families of Kidz Klub Coventry children
Following the success of delivering Christmas hampers to Kidz Klub families in recent years, we are looking to do the same again this year. The hampers have been an incredible blessing to many of our families, reducing several parents to tears at the kindness expressed in the gift. In 2018 we gave away over 20 hampers to families around Coventry and it was an incredible privilege to do so; but we couldn’t do it without your help. Please could you consider if your church could put together some hampers to bless our families. More details of what could and should not go in the hamper can be found in the information sheet on the noticeboard at the back of church, along with packaging instructions. We are looking for a volunteer at St Andrew’s to coordinate this for us. Please speak to Greg if you are interested.
