Bulletin – 10th June 2020

Church Bulletin

I have commented several times how one of the greatest difficulties of the corona pandemic is the way in which so many of us have been separated from our grandchildren. Last night, I helped to run our first online drama group since lockdown. What I realised last night was that I haven’t just missed my grandchildren, I have missed children. The youngest person in my household is 28 and although Arthur, Dylan and Lily have occasionally waved at our Sunday morning coffee mornings, the hundreds of people I have been conferencing with on zoom have all been grown-ups. This is not how it is meant to be. Jesus commended the faith of children to us. We need to see children and spend time with them to be inspired by them. In the same way, children need adults who are not their parents. May the LORD make us a family again.

Prayer Testimonies

We are grateful to those who have bravely shared a small insight into their prayer lives as a means of inspiring others to pray.  We are looking for anyone who can use a phone to record themselves who is willing to speak briefly about their prayer lives and be honest about the joys and challenges of it.  If you would like to find out more, please contact Lesley Lee at lesleylee4@hotmail.co.uk

Birthdays

Congratulations to Jackie Lynch whose birthday it is tomorrow. We know that the one birthday present Jackie wants if for Mike to be restored to good health soon.

For your prayers

Please pray for baby Joshua, a great grandson for Brian & Barbara Warner, born this week 10 weeks premature. Pray for our local schools and playgroups who have to make difficult decisions about whether and when to take children and how to safeguard them and themselves.

Open Heaven

Thanks to all those who have volunteered to prayer walk the streets of Allesley Green and Eastern Green. All streets in Allesley Green have now been taken, but there are a few in Eastern Green waiting to be claimed, including Morgans Road, Orchard Drive, Garrick Close, Rodway Drive and Coniston Drive. You can claim roads for yourself or let us know and we will claim them for you.  You only need to walk the street once any day in June. Don’t forget to let us know when you have done your praying!

Opening the Church

From Monday, the church is available for funerals. Numbers allowed to attend will be very limited, but this seems a step in the right direction. We are hopeful that private prayer may be possible in church from next week, but there is still no official confirmation of this. Please keep an eye on the bulletin for updates.

Jigsaw Puzzles

We have several 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles and some 500 piece puzzles which may be useful for people over the next few months. If you would like one please contact Julie on 07756 918847 or administrator@standrews-eg.org.uk. Also, if you have any jigsaws that you no longer want please contact Julie so these can be passed around in a type of lending library.

Food shopping

A reminder that we are here to shop or pick up prescriptions etc. Please don’t wait until the cupboards are bare to ask for help.  A couple of days’ notice would be helpful.  Please contact Julie for assistance on 07756 918847 or administrator@standrews-eg.org.uk
