Safeguarding at St Andrew’s Church

Safeguarding at St Andrew’s Church

At St Andrew’s, children’s welfare is paramount and we are committed to the care and nurture of all, and have therefore established a safe, caring environment where there is a culture of informed vigilance. Effective and proactive child protection is essential to promote their welfare. I have been the safeguarding officer for a number of years now and have recently been appointed Children’s Advocate, although safeguarding our children is everyone’s responsibility.

Prevention of harm is vital, so we practice safer recruitment and safer working practices by careful selection and training for all that have accountability for the children in our care. This includes obtaining a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) clearance. We would also respond without delay to concerns and work with partner agencies in dealing with any allegations. Our working policy is based on sound pastoral care and good practice and we continually strive to provide a safe environment so children may grow and flourish in the church community.

Can anyone who undertakes Safeguarding Training of either Module 1 or 2 please notify me as I need to keep a record of attendees with when/where.
